Lost Rubber Foot

During my travels I somehow managed to lose the left rubber foot on my X200:

Missing Left Foot:

Present Right Foot (for comparison):

I've had a look through the Maintenance Manual and the only thing I can find relating to feet is this Rubber Kit in the Miscellaneous Parts section (44C9554):

Can anyone confirm that 44C9554 is the correct part before I burn $35 on a small piece of rubber?

Thanks!

It sure looks like it is, but before you pay, I would turn to the Lenovo service and see if they would perhaps replace it for free, since the machine is under warranty.

One of mine came loose too. Got them replaced under warranty.
I've heard of this from other people as well. Maby Lenovo is saving on glue. :D

Many thanks for the tips about warranty, forgot about that!

Managed to dig up my receipt, will see what can be done and report back.

Well, support and warranty in this part of the world is definitely not what it is in Europe or the US. I called the US, Canadian and UK support lines, and they all told me that:
a) They can't support me.
b) If they could support me, it would definitely be a warranty item.

Here, not so. Jumbo Electronics is the official service provider for Lenovo here:

subject RE: Warranty Issue: Missing Rubber Foot: Lenovo X200

Dear Sir,

You can make the order for rubber foot with the cost of AED 50.

Missing parts are not covered under warranty.

Regards,

James
It's taken me a week of constant phone calls, hassle, arguments, emails and follow-ups to get this far. They kept trying to fob me off, they never called back, and have been completely unreasonable throughout (Viji from Jumbo).

Initially they told me that it would have to be evaluated by a technician to determine if there was a warranty claim (a missing rubber foot??), which involves 1.5 hrs of driving for me. After that they would actually order the part, which is not in stock, so I would have to drive back again once it arrives. After much strife, they've agreed to actually order the part for me without seeing the laptop first, so I would only have to drive there once, but I'll have to pay for it as a spare part (I had to email photos of the problem, photos of my serial and my receipt to get this).

So that's around $14, which is better than $28 + shipping (best price I can find online), but much more hassle, and I'd rather not give them my business. My guess is that they're claiming it as a warranty item from Lenovo, but are charging it to me as a spare part, otherwise they wouldn't be able to give to me for that price. I think I'll be ordering it online on principle.

All for a small rubber foot! Madness.

I agree with you.

If Jumbo Electronics is the official service provider, and if the missing foot really is covered under warranty from Lenovo, what they do is unacceptable. Lenovo should not allow that, as it pays for both parts and labor under warranty.

I suggest that you open a thread in the Lenovo forums, and tell them about your experience. Mention what was told you by European and North-American support desks, and what was told you by the one in UAE, and ask for the help of the official Lenovo representatives on the forums to resolve this.

So I went ahead and ordered the feet online; $35 for the rubber set, $10 shipping to my "Shop and Ship" address in New York, and $10 shipping to Dubai. What a terrible rip off, but at least I won't have to worry about losing the things anymore now I have a complete set - definitely a design weak point on these machines (along with the microphone / fan placement).

I hope Lenovo takes note and fixes their global support options - Jumbo Electronics is not a good representative for Lenovo in this region.

Also: The directory listing global support numbers shows a UK number for Middle East Support. I called that, and they told me that they can't support me because I'm outside the UK. Huh.
