What to do with Intel Turbo Memory in x200s?

#1 Post by nuex » Thu Mar 18, 2010 12:25 am

Hi,

I am sure everyone on this thread is tired of reading posts about intel turbo memory. Are there benefits at all or its just a waste?

This will be a multi-part question.

But before i go - here are my specs - x200s

I bought this laptop in Oct-Nov 2009 - just when Windows 7 got released

x200s
SL9400 chip
4GB Ram
2GB Intel Turbo Memory
160GB 7200 RPM HDD
Running 64bit Windows 7 Ultimate.

I am reading on the forums and other sites - that it is better to turn off Intel Turbo Memory - one should disable ReadyBoost and ReadyDrive

Q1) Should i disable both and will it benefit me - especially with Lenovo Windows 7 Enhanced Experienced custom driver settings

Q2) I also read - I should disable ReadyDrive and leave ReadyBoost on - Is this a good solution?

Q3) Use it has a drive and put temp folders etc in there

Or

Q4) Just leave it on both and enjoy whatever optimization it gives my laptop.

I am looking for maximizing speed and efficiency here.

Looking forward to suggestions/advice/etc - its much appreciated.

Thanks,

-Nu

With 4GB of RAM, Turbo Memory isn't gonna help you at all.

Personally I'd eBay it and use the extra cash to purchase, say, a 3G card. :D

Not even ReadyBoost? only will help

It sucks that I paid and used this thing. Why did Lenovo offer this option in the first place

-Thanks
