X200 Ultrabase displayport to HDMI

#1 Post by billp117 » Mon May 03, 2010 6:57 pm

I see there are adapters to convert the displayport to HDMI. Has anyone made this work on the X200 Ultrabase and successfully get video and audio from the same cable? There are several kinds available on eBay and I did not want to go down that road if this subject has already been tested.

Thanks for any input...Bill

I think Lenovo also sells one. Maybe want to compare the specs. BTW how do you like your X200 versus your X200s and why own two of basically the same?

They are both very nice...hard to choose which one to use. I am using the X200 right now because it is faster. The X200s is rediculously light and the 1440x900 screen is very impressive. We will see...may have one of them for sale very soon. They are both brand new.

There is a Displayport to HDMI cable for sale at monoprice:
http://www.monoprice.com/products/produ ... 1&format=2

Do you guys think this would send the audio signal as well?
This is almost a must-have feature for me, as I plan on getting a X200(s) and output some movies to my 46" Samsung HDTV which has HDMI inputs.
BTW are there any HDTV's that have DisplayPort inputs? I haven't seen any so far...

No HDMI audio support with the X200 Ultrabase - see this thread.

That thread is old, and says it should work with a new chipset. Anyone have any newer information? I just bought an x201t but skipped on the ultrabase just for this reason. I'll call Lenovo and see what they say...

So I found this... http://www.compsource.com/pn/2985EXU/Lenovo_1223/
...where it says "1 x HDMI Digital Audio/Video (On Port Replicator)." What is a port replicator?
