External Monitor for X201/X200

I'm researching the X201. The X200 uses the same Ultrabase. I'm wondering why there is no slot to add a PCI express card in the Ultrabase for using higher power graphics card. This is however possible with an Advanced Mini Dock for other models. Does attatching an external monitor with the Ultrabase generate additional stress on the notebook's CPU/GPU causing heat?

You have several options for video output on the X200 Ultrabase:
Displayport to DVI via Lenovo adapter
Displayport to HDMI...mix feelings
VGA
USB to DVI adapter
None of these methods should overheat the CPU/GPU.

Is anyone using a ViDock through the expresscard slot as a docking station?

The Intel X4500MHD in my X200 drives a 24" WUXGA monitor without any slowdowns or heat issues. Driving higher resolutions really does not pose any problems for today's integrated GPUs.
I'm using VGA at the moment but an UltraBase is already on its way. When it gets here I'll be switching to DisplayPort (my HP ZR24w e-IPS monitor has a DisplayPort input).

That's great to know. I'm more interested in the multiple monitors... I have a 19"-er, but would either like to get a second or switch to a high-res 24" like you.

Is there any way for my to connect my X201 to a 2048x1152 resolution monitor? I read the ultrabase displayport only supports a max of 1920x1200. Is that true?

There have been reports of X200 with UltraBase driving a Dell 3008WFP 30" 2560x1600 monitor with a direct DisplayPort connection (no DVI adapters involved). If it worked in X200, I see no reason why it wouldn't in X201. If your monitor don't have a DisplayPort input then things might be different when a DVI adapter is involved, I don't know.

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately my monitor has DVI only.
