X301: blue screeen if tilted

#1 Post by siva » Thu May 13, 2010 12:05 am

If my x301 is not put levelly, or if I carry it while I walk, or if it's tilted in some way, it will have a higher chance to get blue screen of death, or the screen will get all messed up with the graphics totally broken.

Is this hardware problem or maybe just a software glitch?

Anybody familiar with this problem?

Thanks very much,

Alex

If you move the machine and the graphics break up and you get BSODs, it is a hardware problem.

The X301 has an integrated GPU, so if it's coming loose - it's the whole northbridge. :)

It could be a loose cable. Things to take into account is with the thin casing the cable could be pinched or maybe the pinching has done something to the cable. OR as others have pointed out could be the board is somehow damaged. Should always keep notebooks on flat surfaces. See what tech support says.
