New X201s: Power Problems

I have a brand new X201s and I have two problems related to power:

1. Sometimes when I put the laptop in "sleep" by closing the lid the moon LED goes on but the battery LED stays on and the unit gets warm. When I open the lid the unit does not wake up from sleep and I have to turn it off and on again.

2. Sometimes when on battery the unit just goes into a mode where the screen gets much dimmer and it goes out of Aero display mode (which would happen if the CPU was running very slowly and not capable of powering Aero) as if running on a much lower power state.

I plan to exchange the unit but there is a CPU shortage for the X201s and there are none due in the country until mid-July according to my rep.

TIA

Sounds like you can fix your problem in "Power Manager". Just click on the battery icon and find a power plan setting that meets your needs.

i find that closing the lid doesn't necessarily sleep my x200s

the only thing that is guaranteed to do it is Fn-F4.

Also if i sleep it, then UNPLUG a usb device (e.g. mouse) it wakes back up

i make sure i unplug all usb, then sleep it using Fn-F4 and it is ok

No chirping, beeping, sounds. No USB devices plugged in. I'm running the standard Windows 7 "Balanced" Power mode. It appears to be a a system board problem but I was hoping someone had same experience and some hints. Thank you.

Search the MSFT site to see if there are any W7 64 hot fixes. I installed some but was long ago and forgot the causes/reasons. Had no issues like yours but MSFT is keen to spot and resolve problems.
