x200s modified bios

hi i have an x200s and i want to install a centrino 6200 i got from a friend but it gives me a 1802 error. can anyone send me the modified bios to this so i can install the wireless card? Also a t60 modified bios so i can move the current x200s card over?

Is it really worth potentially bricking your machine and/or voiding the warranty?

The risk of bricking is really quite low -- I've never heard of anyone bricking their machine due to a BIOS flash. Follow the instructions and you'll be fine.

Failed? Definitely. In fact, my most recent attempt at flashing my T500 failed. But I've never heard of a failed BIOS flash resulting in a bricked ThinkPad.

Yes, of course, a BIOS flash attempt which fails catastrophically can "brick" the unit. However, the risk of that happening is no greater when flashing the modified BIOSs in question here than it is in flashing any standard BIOS -- and that is the point relevant to this thread! Stating that flashing a modified BIOS risks "bricking" the machine misleads people who do not know much about these matters. It's like stating that there is a risk in drinking blue Listerine ... as if drinking yellow Listerine were safe.
Unless one decides never to flash the BIOS, the risk of updating the BIOS -- be it to the next standard version or the modified version -- is exactly the same, i.e., very small, but not zero.
