WWAN on X201 - no SIM Card

Hi

I got a X201 running W7 and have a Gobi 2000 3G card. I have put in a SIM card from my local provider - TDC. The SIM has previusly been used in a USB modem on a x60.
Every time I tried to connect it tells my there is no SIM card installed.
When I open Axcess Connection an antenna is shown. First time the antenna is called Verizon, but after the first connection attempt it changes name to unknown.
If I make a new profile the card is listet as Qualcomm Gobi 2000 HS-USB Broadband device 9205 and it is activated.

Anyone got input to solve this issue?

Thanks,
Michael

You probably need to switch the card's mode of operation from CDMA/EV-DO to GSM/HSPA. I don't know if Access Connections (AC) can "handle" that, since I don't use AC to control WWAN activities.

Verizon's software, VZAccess Manager, can switch modes on the card. Below is the download link:

Hi EOMtp

I tried the Verizon software and changed to GSM/HSPA, but still same thing - no SIM card installed.

What do you use to control the wwan setup if you don't use AC?

Thanks

Michael

Is the card itself (not the SIM you are putting in) or software somehow locked to the service providers offered by Lenovo? Should pursue that angle. I mean it may not be global unlocked. I've read some comments about this probably being an issue elsewhere but never really looked into it.

Similar problems are discussed under the subject of "Activating WWAN on x200s"

I posted a reply there, briefly saying that it was an excessive heat problem and was solved by exchange of the SIM-card reader.
