x200 or x201

Is the X201 worth double the price?

I got my T61 stolen awhile back and have been using a family member's Lenovo y510 (which is actually really solid). That being said, I'm going off to college soon and am treating myself to a new laptop.

T61 was great but felt a tad too big. X200/X201 seems almost too small, but I know I'll appreciate it as I carry it around with me. The thing that bugs me the most is the resolution on the X200/X201, but I can also learn to deal with that. I also know the X201 has a touch pad which is a huge +, but I've heard it's quite small. I haven't used one in person, though, I have used touchpads on netbooks and hate them because they're so small.

Otherwise, I don't know much else about the difference between the two. I'll be using it for school work, some photo editing and video editing. No gaming..

Any suggestions?

Consider the X201s for its better CPU.

Other than that, X200 can be equipped with an AFFS LCD screen if you are not afraid of taking apart the machine.

Worth twice the price? Personally I'd say no, unless you have a specific need to run CPU intensive tasks frequently.

If you don't like the resolution of the X20x machines there's always the X200s or X201s, which are WXGA+.

The AFFS screen swap can I believe be done on the X201 as well, but you have to replace the cable and inverter in addition to the screen.

So, if I take the LCD and inverter out of an AFFS screen equipped X200 and swap it into an X201 it will work? Nice

I have both the X200 and X200s units...for me right now I prefer the standard screen - 1280x800 is just fine.

It's not that bad and they've got all the videos on the support and training site if you get stuck.
