Battery Wobble X2_?

#1 Post by GrandMasterKhan » Wed May 26, 2010 11:31 am

Anyone get this? Am still thinking about getting the x201 and wondering its its an issue, esp. with the 6-cell. From what I understand the battery is part of the base so might be some tolerance issue. Would the 9-cell ensure no wobble, if any?

It affects me as well with the 6-cell on the X200. There is a very slight wobble but it doesn't bother me at all.

Is this due to a diffference in height of the battery base and the bottom of the machine base itself? OR is it just loose fit? Trying to understand what I might encounter.

Your T61 doesn't have the battery wobble? Yours would be the first Thinkpad I've encountered that doesn't.

I'd have to agree. Every Thinkpad I've owned the battery has wobbled to some degree, some more than others.

Well, my X201s' 6-cell battery is on TIGHT (no wobble), possibly because it's new? My T43's battery has slight wobble.

I have the 7-cell. No wobble. Very tight and glove like fit. Trust me I would have noticed on Day 1 and rejected it if I thought it were not widespread.

Hmm, both the batteries I have for my T60 wobble, as have every Thinkpad I've seen. I got a shipping notice on my X201 this afternoon and will report back when that arrives. To me, it's a non-issue, but then, I'm apparently in the minority because the things I care about are does the laptop work and how much abuse can it take and continue working, and not much else (you can add accidentally stepping on the closed lid of my T60, admittedly not with all my weight because I realized what was happening before I did that, to the list of abuses my T60 has survived...and I'm 6'3" and not exactly slim).

Is it like this or not as bad? I mean should not be so tight as to be hard to take out but should not dangle?
