x200 screen question

I am about to buy the x200 one of these days. My question is whether the screen is as bad as everyone else says it is? Just for reference, I am currently using a HP dv4t with LED glossy screen and a lenovo s10. I also used to have a toshiba laptop that also had a matte screen. So i have used matte screens before. Will the x200's screen be about the same quality as the lenovo s10, for those people who have used both before? or is there any where that i can see it in person? I don't really plan on doing the AFFS mod.

It is not "Wow, FANTASTIC!!!" ... but it is more than plenty good enough! ... and the time that the X200s can run on a battery is absolutely phenomenal. All considered, it's one fantastic machine. Consider getting the X200s instead of the X200.

I have an X200s which has a WXGA resolution LED backlit display (i.e. same resolution as X200).

In my opinion, whilst it's not a match for my HP 24" UXGA monitor which has an IPS display, it's perfectly usable and no where near as bad as many make out.

My X200s gives me the best of both worlds (as would the X200): fantastic portability and usability (I can type comfortably on trains whilst others with larger laptops will struggle and can take it out and about with me and barely realise I've got it with me etc), whilst at home I have my glorious 24" HP screen. It's a no brainer to me, but I suppose it's also all about compromise and so I can see how the screen on my X200s could be considered to be the weakest link by some.

I went with X200 some time ago to get more CPU power than X200s as it's my main machine that I do everything on (hook it up to WUXGA IPS monitor when not on the move). I was planning the AFFS mod even before I got it as I had a 14.1" T60 before which are known for poor screens and so I wanted something better. I expected the stock X200 screen to be as bad as the T60 one so I was surprised to find out that it actually was much better. Yes, it's a TN LCD with poor vertical viewing angles but it's plenty bright and OK to work on if you don't need color accuracy.

That being said, I went with the HV121WX4-120 AFFS screen mod and it's much, much better!
