I was looking at the X201s for when i go back to college in the fall and had a few questions regarding it.
1) how hard will it be to mod in a webcam (the one for the X201/i)
2)with the X200 Ultrabase, can you power the laptop from the battery connector and can you use an Ultrabay battery with it
I cannot think of anymore questions now, if i do i will edit this post, Thanks in Advance

Don't mean to hijack your thread, but I have one question myself.
When the x201s was configurable, was it possible to get it without the touchpad? I understand that it's easy to disable, but my preference is to not have the hardware.

Yes it was, FRU# 60Y5420 From the HMM "Palm rest assembly with fingerprint reader, without touch pad, with Logo plate, 25W for
X201s" and i am not a stickler with my threads but the mods may not like it.

It depends on type of screen you buy if you want a webcam. If you buy the WXGA+, you cannot get a webcam:

But if you get WXGA monitor, the x201s appears to support it. You will be sacrificing screen quality.

So if i get the WXGA+ display then there is no chance to mod in a webcam and any info on my questions with the ultrabase
EDIT: I looked at the diagrams of the LCD connector and they look like they both have the connector for the webcam, so it looks like I just need to dremel a hole in the bezel if the X201's benzel cannot fit, can anyone confirm?

regardless of the hack proposed and its success/failure, do you think it makes common sense to toss the warranty out the windows like that? Braddah, I'm trying to bring some reality to your proposal. From my end, it seems to be insane.

I could always get another benzel if this fails and i don't usually keep a laptop for more than a year anyways so its all good

I don't know that you'd be sacrificing quality, but quantity. The X201s has more pixels, but I don't think the screen quality is any better.

Well, I guess there goes the x201s idea for going back to school. The x201s is now discontinued. There might still be some floating in the channel though if you look hard.

X200s disappeared before due IIRC to processor shortages. It's still listed on the Lenovo UK site which lagged a bit behind the US site the last time it vanished.
