Hi folks,
I am thinking about buying an X201 -- love the form factor! -- but I need to be able to run an application that requires DirectX 10 support. Some web sites say that the X201 only supports DirectX 9, others seem to indicate that the Intel HD Graphics adapter does in fact support DirectX 10.
Microsoft provides a tool that dumps all of the DirectX-related information for a machine. I don't have access to an X201 though, so I can't run the tool myself before placing the order.
Would anyone here on the forums be able to run this tool on their X201 and send me the results? I plan to run Windows 7 64-bit on the machine, but I would assume that the results would be similar for a 32-bit machine, Vista, etc., so any results at all would be welcome.
The tool (DXCapsViewer) is available in the DirectX 10 SDK (available here), but that's a 600MB install, so I pulled the tool out and put it in my Dropbox here. Running the tool is very straightforward: launch the tool and select "Print whole tree to file" from the File menu. The tool will generate a dxview.log, which is the file that I need to see in order to confirm/deny DirectX 10 support.
Any assistance, info, that anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks everyone!

Re: DirectX 10 support on X201?
The X201 supports DirectX 10.
No tool needed to tell you that. If you look up the Intel GMA HD Graphics specs you will see it supports DirectX 10. In fact, Intel's embedded graphics have supported DirectX 10 since the X3100.

Thanks for the response! I found the same info on Intel's web site, but a couple of review sites weren't quite as clear as to which variant of DirectX was supported on the X201. I wasn't sure if Lenovo had restricted something in the drivers, for example. Sounds like the non-Intel sites may have been misinformed.

Re: DirectX 10 support on X201?
I use 64 bit DX11 on my x201. Dont see why DX10 would be an issue. It's just software. I dont think there are any drivers which would make it non-compliant. You are thinking discrete graphics and the many interations someone like NVDA would do and its hard to get compliance. But as I said if DX11 is compliant I have no reason to beleive preceding versions would not.
