X200 HDD booting in X201(s) ?

#1 Post by eya » Wed Sep 01, 2010 3:29 pm

Hi,

If I plug the HDD (running XP Pro) from my x200 into a x201 or a x201, will it work right away (I mean , no OS (re)-configuration) ?
I don't care if it takes longer to boot, or if there's some Windows activation warning, as it would be temporary (1 week every 6 months).

If you were running Win 7, the answer would be yes, but with XP the HAL is handled nowhere near as elegantly as in Vista/Win 7 and its quite possible it wouldn't work well (or at all).

The only way you can know for sure is to try it.

Cheerss,
