X200 Tablet Came w/Vista. Purchase Windows 7 Separately?
X200 Tablet Came w/Vista. Purchase Windows 7 Separately?
As my X200 Tablet came with Vista Business (32 Bit), I'm assuming to upgrade to Windows 7 64 Bit, I must purchase Windows 7 separately and install all of the drivers, etc? If that is the case, I might as well sell my X200 Tablet and get a new Thinkpad with Windows 7 64 bit pre-installed no? I'm close to dumping my X200 Tablet and going either for the X201 Tablet, or T400s with Win 7/64.

You cannot. See here. You can buy the upgrade and do a clean install if you want.

Windows 7 runs great on the tablet. As mentioned...the upgrade is all you need and then run ThinkVantage System Update 4.0. Windows 7 will then update and you are finished. I does not get any easier.
You have options on how to install the upgrade...upgrade or custom work very well. This will help you decide:

The X200 should run like a dream with Windows 7. Either 32 or 64 Bit work fine in my opinion. I have tried both and they both run about the same. If you choose 64 bit you will have no regrets. There is no need to buy the full version...the upgrade version is all you need. Shop around for a good deal...perhaps someone on the forum will sell to you.
Selling the X200t and purchasing the X201t is probably overkill unless you just want to own the new model.

Re: X200 Tablet Came w/Vista. Purchase Windows 7 Separately?
Well, my X200T was damaged from a fall in the middle of 2009 (the case). Based on your advice, it seems the perfect upgrade path for me should be:
1) Purchase New Case ($120)
2) Purchase Win7/64/Ultimate Upgrade ($219)
3) Purchase 256GB SSD ($300) [512GB SSD would be even better, but they're SO expensive!).
4) Purchase 64GB SDHC for extra storage ($120)
I'm doing AUDIO work, so a really fast, high capacity, system drive would be necessary, otherwise I'd be fiddling around with Expresscard adapters for portable FAST storage and data access. Hence, the need for a 256GB or 512GB SSD.
