I had issues with battery drain in hibernate and learned from other posts that 'Wake on LAN' features were enabled by default, so I got into the BIOS and disabled every 'Wake on...' option. Battery drain in hibernate was gone (as desired). However... Yesterday I was trying to set up a new router and when I plugged a LAN cable in, it wouldn't connect. Nothing. The device is 'Enabled', but it just won't connect. Any suggestions? Did I disable something that needs to be enabled?
Edit: would someone be kind enough to send me the (default) setting for "Wait for Link" in the Intel 82577LM Gigabit Network Connection Properties (Control Panel > System > Device Manager > Network Adapters > Intel 82577LM > Advanced tab)? The options I have are: Auto Detect, Off, On. I think in my enthusiasm to turn off every instance of "Wake on... ", I changed the setting for "Wait for Link" as well. Thanks.

Re: x201 won't connect with LAN cable
Giday Paul,
just a quick fix for you = DISABLE that H/W and do a shurt down
ENABLE it after reboot = will usually loads in factory DEFAULTS.....
However if that does not work then try below
- I also in past (as long as you sure that H/W works) is ,,,,,, UNINSTALL the drivers via CTNL PNL....reboot , and (dont install drivers during startup process - just ignore it) Then when laptop is fully booted , MANUALLY , "re-install" that driver....... and you have FACTORY DEFAULTS from Intel & Lenovo in DM of "Advance" tab!
Hope this helps
Cheers
