X200s, installed Win7, no on-screen display for brightness

I bought a X200s last week which was pre-loaded with XP. I did a clean install of Win7 64bit, installed the Thinkpad update utility, downloaded the drivers and a few select Lenovo utilities that I wanted.

However, when I manually increase/decrease the display brightness using the keyboard controls, I don't see the on-screen indicator that shows the brightness setting anymore.

Does anyone know what the laptop is missing? I don't want to blindly install all the Thinkpad software if I can help it.

Thanks.

got home and checked to see if i had the hotkey integration package installed on the machine and it was already there.

it turns out that the hotkey driver also needs the Lenovo video driver installed for the on-screen controls to show. i was just using the microsoft video driver and did not think a video driver update was necessary because whenever i ran the thinkvantage update, it was listing the video driver update as optional and 'for Vista' (no mention of Win7).

after installing the lenovo video driver, i uninstalled and reinstalled the hotkey integration and it's working perfectly now. woo-hoo!

thanks again.
