X201 fingerprint reader
X201 fingerprint reader
Hi
I just bought this computer and I'm considering if I have this feature in my model ?? From outside it seems that the fingerprint reader is installed, however it looks completly different than this one which I have in T60p. Where in Windows 7 can I find it in order to configure (I'm get used to Win XP)?
Thanks in advance
Bart

Re: X201 fingerprint reader
Click the Start button, look at Programs and you should find Lenovo ThinkVantage Tools as an option near the top. Click on it and, after a few seconds wait, you should get a screen with all the ThinkVantage Tools displayed. One of these will be to set up the Fingerprint Reader.
I hope this helps.

Thanks for it, but there is nothing for fingerprint setup

@Bart77: Would you be able to take a photo of the keyboard area of your machine and post it here?
P.S. Photos need to be minimised to prevent dial-up users complaining. So please use a way of compressing to any big files.

Re: X201 fingerprint reader
Thank you for the photo. That is definitely a fingerprint reader.
You need the drivers to support it. Go to Lenovo System Update and see if they install for you.
If not then get back to us.

Re: X201 fingerprint reader
That's great news! Might I suggest you edit out the photo now so that you don't upset anyone ... it did the job.
Also, don't forget to register both hands for the fingerprint reader. It is really easy to scar a finger while doing, say, manual jobs in the garden. The biometric device can't handle a change for the few days while it heals.
