X201T WWAN in Australia

Found myself on an unexpected trip back to the States (I live in Australia) and realised that my X41T needed replacement. Ordered an X201T and ticked pretty much all the boxes. Apparently one of the boxes I ticked got me the WWAN antenna/radio (I think it's the WWAN), the SIM card slot behind the battery compartment...

What I'm wondering is if I can use this SIM slot/card for a data plan back in Australia. As in, will this work I put it on a carrier on the right frequencies, and if so, does anyone know what that correct carrier might be? And do I need to do anything here in the States before I get back to Oz (activate it somehow)?

Thanks heaps.

Tim

If you odrered the Gobi 2000 WWAN card option with your X201T, you should be good to go with any of the Australian 3G providers, as that card covers both the 850MHz and 900MHz 3G bands.

My experience is that the Telstra NextG network is generally far better than any of the 3G networks in Australia, in terms of both usable coverage and attainable throughput.

Not as far as I am aware.
