X300 Upgrade

I have an early X300 (64GB SSD SAMSUNG MCCOE64G8MPP-0VA). It has been a good laptop for some time but the hard disk space is becoming a critical issue for me.
After pondering a bit about buying a new laptop, I don't see any other that will give me the portability of the X300 with similar capabilities, so I am inclinded to upgrade the X300 a bit.
I already installed 4GB of RAM, so I am ok in that department.
In order to upgrade the disk to something bigger, perhaps 256GB, what make/model will you guys recommend?
What about upgrading to Windows7? Should I just buy an off the shelf copy or try to get one from Lenovo?
Thanks in advance for your suggestions.
Cheers,

You can get 256GB 1.8" SSD through Newegg. 256GB may be the largest SSD in the 1.8" format.
You can get Win 7 directly and then download any Thinkvantage stuff from Lenovo site. Not sure any Thinkvantage package is much useful with Win 7.
If you want slightly better CPU and graphics performances, you can get the 1.6GHz Thinkpad X301 from ebay. You'll still have to upgrade the SSD.
You can also wait until Lenovo releases their macbook air competitor, which probably will come with a 16:9 display, no internal DVD, fewer ports and a redesigned T4x0s-styled keyboard.

Those 256GB 1.8" drives are pretty expensive. You might be better off getting an external for extra storage.

Can you point me to an 1.8" 256GB SSD? Can't seem to find one! All I see are 2.5"...

Those prices are pretty outrageous. If you are willing to spend even $300-400 on a new ssd, you're better off selling the x300 and maybe get a T400s/T410s that allows for a ultrabay adapter for more storage.
Like you, I love the weight size and durability of the X300, the only limiting factor is the drive..if the DVD bay allowed for drive expansion, it would be Nearly perfect.

or, if you're patient, wait for the new 2011 models. I thought there where some rumors about a macbook air competitor from lenovo.

There was a report that various Chinese and Taiwanese including Lenovo were interested in building competitors to apple macbook air. Should expect something by April or May.
I hope that they keep the 13" 16:10 format for X30x (same as MBA), shave some weight off by removing DVD and SSD compartments, add Li polymer battery for extra battery time. Hell, I hope that they keep the same keyboard but that seems quite unlikely.

I purchased both a 256gb and a 128gb from this Forum member at Christmas time -- he shipped quickly and well packed -- I believe he had one more Samsung 256gb ssd available -- his contact info is in his original post --

I am an honest seller. I have a 256GB SSD, but unfortunately cannot accept payment via paypal. I can only accept credit card through my merchant account or moneybookers, alternatively I am willing to ship FEDEX Secure COD (USPS Money Orders only)
My Paypal Story: I accessed paypal while I was abroad and paypal decided to shut down my account indefinitely. I am sorry. Give me a call or shoot me an email.
