Hi all,
I've been looking for a certain part with not much luck. Basically I have a 1.8" intel g2 ssd that I want to use in a Thinkpad x201. Now I know I will need a converter, however I can't find one or really know what size I need for it to Properly fit in the unit... Any ideas or tips? I can get a 2.5" if necessary I'd just rather not if I don't have to since the 1.8" was pretty dear. Thanks.

I used this to install a new SSD in my X200, and also in my son's T60, and my other son's MacBook Pro:

You can tell from the photo at the link that is encloses the entire drive. It worked perfectly in each machine.
You can spend a few bucks less and get this on eBay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... K:MEWAX:IT
You can see from the photo that it is an adapter only and does not enclose the entire drive.
I chose the newmodeus adapter/enclosure because it was the first time I had used the mini 1.8" SSD to replace a 2.5" HDD. I have since had an opportunity to see the adapter without enclosure (like the eBay adapter) and it appears that it would work just as well, although I haven't tried it yet.
If you get an adapter from eBay, make sure not to purchase from one of the China vendors. Maybe the product would be okay, but if it isn't, you would have quite a hassle returning/refund to/from China.
EDIT: Never mind... I didn't see Harry's post
Harry, would that adapter I found on eBay work also??

I am not sure because I have never tried it. It says in the EBay ad that the resulting rig is the same size as a 2.5" SATA drive, so it figures it might work. It seems to me that it would flop around in the drive bay though without rails.

Wow, nice. Thanks guys! I think I'm going to go with the one recommended in the other thread:

Looks good. The ebay one had a cray posting fee so I may pass on that one. Ordering now.
