Install integrated camera in X200

#1 Post by emeraldgirl08 » Thu Feb 17, 2011 9:53 am

Hi peeps! I have an X200 and it does not have a webcam. Is there any difficulty installing one like this???

It seems that it's just a matter of removing the screen bezel, dropping the camera in, and affixing the webcam cover plate. Anyone do something like this???

I'm about to do it myself, but I'd say I'll have to remove LCD panel from the cover in order to stick cable into the camera.

Won't be a problem, though, as I just replaced an original LCD with AFFS one

When I had my WXGA X200s repaired recently because the ThinkLight had broken, Lenovo misinterpreted the fault and sent the engineer along with a web cam.

In the end we didn't fit it, because I didn't have the HMM to hand, although he left it with me and offered to come back to help if I wanted.

The web cam cable is part of the LCD cable, so fitting the web cam is simply a matter of removing the foam padding that is fitted when no web cam is present. (The reason he didn't fit it was that it appears that two small additional screws are required when in reality they're not.)

Just installed camera in my X200s, and I must tell it's a bit of a "pain in the butt" process, as I had to re-tape one of Wi-Fi antennas during the installation.

How long would you say installation took?

I'd say it took me 15-20 minutes, but I already had LCD bezel removed (for AFFS installation), and I already knew the way to remove LCD panel - had to do it again.

Does anyone know if the linked camera kit is also compatible with an X200 tablet?
