X300 6 cell battery

How long can a 6cell battery run for if it were brand new?

My battery will run fully charged for 2.5 hours, which is poor..I'm considering getting a new battery.

Finally what is a good battery monitor app I can use? Any help appreciated!

What does Power Manager say your battery's current 'full charge capacity' is? If it's at or close to the design capacity a new batter isn't going to help your cause since something in your OS is causing high power draw.

Actually it now says 3 hrs 29 mins. I hadnt changed any settings, maybe shutdown apache, thats it.. I'll still most likey need a spare battery anyway. Thanks!

Are there typical things in OS's which are high power drawers'?
I have Windows 7 Pro 64 Bit.
I have the 6cell and bay battery 3 cell, just wondered if I could turn anything off in the OS?
