x220 release date?
x220 release date?
Well we've got our x220 announcement and a "coming in April" estimate. Anyone think they know when they are going to start taking orders?
Thanks,
Charlie

Re: x220 release date?
X220 just appeared on lenovo.com.
I just can't believe my eyes. $1295 for X220i, $1395 for a base non-i X220. IPS is just $50 extra, i7+USB3 is just $140 extra over the i5-2540M; but upgrading to i5-25xx, 4GB single stick, camera and 3yr warranty (review configuration) makes it shocking $1729 total. Let's hope there is some pricing mistake and it will start from $900 as it was claimed previously.

Sale price: $849.00
Re: x220 release date?
LOL, i guess they sold it for a higher price for a while to get a reason to write "From: [s]$1395[/s] Sale price: $949"Vempele wrote:Sale price: $849.00

Re: x220 release date?
Two things that struck me while playing with the customizer:
Camera: the only option is "No Camera"
UltraNav: the only option is "TrackPoint and TouchPad" (no TrackPoint only option)
Looks like X201 added the TouchPad option and X220 made it a must
Ah, and (surprise!) there is no 1600x900 option...

Re: x220 release date?
Some have noticed at Notebook Review that you cannot order the camera with the Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6300, 3x3 WiFi option. Someone said this is because there is no room for the 3rd antenna and the camera together. It's either one or the other.

Re: x220 release date?
but IIRC that was the case with the x201 too, eg. the camera option limits you to 2x2 antenae, so i'm not surprised that the x220 follows suit.GomJabbar wrote:Some have noticed at Notebook Review that you cannot order the camera with the Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6300, 3x3 WiFi option. personally, i have no use for the camera (and fingerprint reader too) and always believe in the KISS principle for laptops.

Re: x220 release date?
Apparently Lenovo's shopping cart is broken for X220 orders. Supposed to be fixed tomorrow.

Re: x220 release date?
Thanks for pointing that out. Indeed I've selected 3x3 antenna.GomJabbar wrote:Some have noticed at Notebook Review that you cannot order the camera with the Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6300, 3x3 WiFi option.
