Problem with Lenovo wireless download

I already reported this to Lenovo, but there is a problem for anyone doing a recovery from factory disks. There is a problem on all the later models with the drivers labled "Wireless LAN (bg, abg, abgn) for Windows 7 (32-bit, 64-bit), Windows Vista (32-bit, 64-bit), XP - ThinkPad". It seems to affect all recent systems. (I looked at x200, T400, T61) As of April 1, 2011, version 14 replaced version 13. In the notes, it says something about "end of support for Intel WiFi Link 5100". Indead, if you have that wireless card, as do most X200, T500, T400, etc., there is no driver for your machine. My experience has been that the Intel 5100 is the most common wireless card in T400, X200, T500, etc. The file is a large download, about 240mb.

Admin Edit: July 2011 - 5xxx drivers are shown in the Driver matrices (etc) on the new Lenovo support site.

You may need to install Windows XP Update Module Q888111. (ThinkPad model dependant).

yeah i got xp to install had to registry tweak from sp3 to sp2 to get the above install to work but the machine was very sluggish. i got ambitious and installed 2k8 server 32bit via dreamspark...( i dont have another copy for 7) but it seems the intel video driver series is causing the computer to keep crashing! any ideas on this? i utilized the latest driver given....the screen would go fritzy.
