Just bought a X200 refurb and have a problem...
As per thread title....
Just received a X200 refurb from IBM and encountered a problem. X200 worked fine initially (including charging up the battery) but it seems to have stopped working from AC power (same day I received laptop).
X200 now only boots up using battery (even when plugged in) - and battery isn't being re-charged. Tried plugging it in via the dock but still the same results; X200 would only boot up using battery power. Could an AC Adapter die out so quickly after just a few hours of use? (granted AC Adapter was also labeled a refurb product).
Visually, the AC Adapter itself doesn't appear to show any damages on the outside (nor any obvious signs like emitting a burnt smell).
Or am I missing something? Would appreciate some suggestions.
Thanks in advance!
edit:
The AC Adapter I got was the 65W one.

Do you have a multimeter? You should be able to measure 20vDC at the end of the tip, + or - 5%. To quote 'Ray' -
The "center pin" does not deliver any voltage; it's the metal wall inside the plug that has the +20V with respect to the metal shell on the outside of the plug. See this: http://www.kawakami-ca.com/images/20v_dc_plug.jpg

Thanks for the advice. Not sure why I didn't think to try that out myself.

Looks like the AC Adapter is toast (no readings at all on the multimeter - checked another GOOD AC Adapter from another laptop I have just to make sure I was doing it right
).
Phoned IBM to asked for a replacement - but will likely get another old refurb AC Adapter.
Any suggestions for a 3rd party one I could purchase new or is better to stick with a genuine Lenovo branded AC Adapter for the X200?

Try the Lenovo 90W UltraSlim AC/DC Combo Adapter. I just got one of these today - very slim, charges my phone and laptop at the same time, super cool.

Received the replacement AC Adapter from IBM today (that was pretty fast service). Doesn't appear to have a date on it (defective/crapped out AC Adapter was actually 1+ year *older* than the X200 unit itself!).
As suspected, it was the AC Adapter that was the problem; first time I've ever had one become defective (and I've had a number of laptops including a still operational Thinkpad T22!). Re-charging battery right now as I post.
