I looked up the machine's information and found that it should still be covered by the three year warranty, so I arranged to send it in for servicing and did so. The fellow on the phone told me that they would send it back to me untouched if they couldn't fix it under warranty for any reason. The log goes as follows:
It's a strikingly odd log - the average turnaround time was supposedly 6 business days, but they had the repair complete on the same day they received the X200!CX 05/13/2011 18:40:00 E Repair complete, shipped to customer
OS 05/13/2011 09:17:00 E Machine being repaired
AK 05/09/2011 18:31:00 E Carrier processing request to ship container
AK 05/08/2011 18:54:00 E Carrier processing request to ship container
Is there a chance that "Repair complete" could in fact specify that they weren't able to do anything under warranty and are simply sending it back to me, or is there a chance that it's truly been repaired (I was told it would probably be a motherboard replacement) so quickly?
As an anxious broke almost-college-student *not* having to source an X200 motherboard and replace it myself for around $300 would be excellent.
Makes me glad I haven't installed the AFFS LCD yet!
