On my screen there is a very thin white band all along the left side and I can't get it to go away. Is there any way I could maybe shift the screen a little to the left to make it disappear?

This is, apparently, a very common problem; and has been mentioned many times on another forum. No solution has been suggested.

Do a search in this forum. Lots of mentions.

It is very likely caused by the stupid over-hyped LED backlight. That's why most of serious monitors still rely on WCG-CCFL backlight because the LED backlight is not able to deliver similar quality yet in terms of uniformity.
This makes me think of reconsidering to buy the X220 because of the display. Is the X201 + AFFS display mod (with good old CCFL) better option ? Moreover I'd get more vertical resolution.
