Anyone know if you can get the 9cell x220 to work with the x220-Tablet model? (Preferably without significant if any modification).

If not, are there any good 3rd party sources for higher capacity batteries than the 6cell available for the Tablet? How about 3rd party options for the "slice" additional battery? I think the $230 for the slice is a bit much... I've had some good luck with dekcell (see google) for 3rd party batteries, but self build are generally better.

I rebuilt my old Dell e1505 battery packs with high quality high-powered-led-flashlight 18650 cells. Could get 9000mAh for around $80 (compared to 7200mAh for $150 from Dell). Sounds like they've got a good profit margin built into laptop batts.

By the way, did I read correctly that the x220 Tablet batteries are Li-Poly but the x220 (non-tablet) are Li-Ion (hard cells)?

I haven't seen the X220t battery, but Thinkpad tablets have a space missing in the center of the battery where the hinge mechanism fits into. My guess would be that it won't work. I usually pick up batteries on ebay. That's where they're usually the cheapest.

The batteries are completely different between the X220 and X220t tablet. Don't think they can be interchanged.

The 6-cell battery on my X220 is Li-Ion.

I should add that the external "Slice" battery is the same for both the X220 and X220t Tablet.

Hi That is a very good thought and idea in the space of the battery I would have thought that more than 63 Wh (may be 1000 WH) could be crammed- any progress - Its a great idea.

Purchased a battery 44++ from Lenovo for my X220, the battery has 'Li-ion 00' on it. My 29++ also has 'Li=ion 00'.
