X201T Mouse and Stylus and Touch woes just appeared...
My X201T tablet mouse, stylus and multitouch functions worked well until about three weeks ago. Before this problem, when I changed orientation from landscape to portrait, the tablet and stylus adjusted to the changes just fine.
Then some update happened either through System Update or through Windows Update or through me trying to keep current with the latest drivers.
Now, this is my difficulty: When I change from landscape to portrait, the stylus gets confused, and the pointer is about 90 degrees and several inches off away from the stylus tip.
When I go to calibrate the stylus functions, the calibration function does not work.
When I go to calibrate the touch functions, it calibrates okay, but on the next reboot, I lose all use of the mouse as soon as the desktop loads. Neither the trackpoint nor the ultranav touch pad work and the mouse buttons don't work. I have mouse functions pre-deskop up until the user logon.
The only recovery I have found is to do a "System Restore" to the most current restore point. Go figure.
In Control Panel, I now have two separate applications to handle what used to be handled by one application: "Pen Tablet Properties" and "Touch Settings". The "Pen Tablet Properties" includes calibration of the stylus but the calibration doesn't work. The "Touch Settings" handles calibration of the finger touch, but after the calibration I lose mouse function.
Here all all of the drivers I have loaded at this time which might relate.
Lenovo System Interface driver 1.05
ThinkPad Tablet Button Driver 1.04
ThinkPad Tablet Shortcut Menu 6.25
ThinkPad UltraNav Driver 15.2.20.0
ThinkPad UltraNav Utility 2.13.0
Touch Driver 3.0.7.13
Microsoft Touch Pack for Windows 7 1.0.40517.00
ISD Tablet 7.0.2-10
ThinkPad Display 1280x800 4.36.0.0
Intel HD Graphics 8.15.10.2312 02/22/2011
Windows Live Dsplay Driver 15.5527.0.0 08/06/2010
ThinkPad UltraNav Pointing Device 15.2.20.0 03/21/2011
HID-complaint mouse 6.1.7600.16385 06/21/2006
The OS is Windows 7 Pro x64 SP1. I purchased the system in August, 2010. I've got 8GB of ram and 500 gb of hard drive, 60% free.
I hope someone here has had something similar happen and can help, or someone can help me get back to just using the same application for pen and touch calibration and adjustment, and maybe that will fix it.

Re: X201T Mouse and Stylus and Touch woes just appeared...
Well, here is some more information. I've compared my laptop to my wife's X201T Win7 sp1 x64 and here is the raw comparison:
Lenovo System Interface driver 1.05 jane's: 1.05
ThinkPad Tablet Button Driver 1.04 jane's 1.03
ThinkPad Tablet Shortcut Menu 6.25 jane's 6.03
ThinkPad UltraNav Driver 15.2.20.0 jane's 15.1.19.0
ThinkPad UltraNav Utility 2.13.0 jane's 2.13.0
Touch Driver 3.0.7.13 jane's 3.0.7.13
Microsoft Touch Pack for Windows 7 1.0.40517.00 jane's 1.0.40517.00
ISD Tablet 7.0.2-10 jane's none
ThinkPad Display 1280x800 4.36.0.0 03/04/2011 jane's 4.35.0.0 11/25/2010
Intel HD Graphics 8.15.10.2312 02/22/2011 jane's 8.15.10.2253 11/25/2010
Windows Live Dsplay Driver 15.5527.0.0 08/06/2010 jane's: none
ThinkPad UltraNav Pointing Device 15.2.20.0 03/21/2011 jane's 15.1.19.0 10/14/2010
HID-cimplaint mouse 6.1.7600.16385 06/21/2006 jane's: 6.1.7600.16385 06/21/2006
So it looks like Jane's functioning X201T does not have either:
ISD Tablet 7.0.2-10 or Windows Live Display Driver. I suspect one of these is the culprit.
Anybody know which it makes sense to remove first?

Re: X201T Mouse and Stylus and Touch woes just appeared...
Solved:
The ISD Tablet driver is a Wacom product published by Lenovo.
When I uninstalled version 7.0.2-10 and redownloaded and installed version 7.0.2-19 it fixed the stylus getting lost in portrait orientation, it fixed the no calibration of the stylus, and it fixed the lost mouse on reboot.
You can find 7.0.2-19 through the Lenovo X201T driver matrix.

Re: X201T Mouse and Stylus and Touch woes just appeared...
Well, my problem and my solution turned out to be a little more complicated than I realized. The problem with the pen stylus not making the transition to portrait mode was fixed by updating "ISD Tablet" from version 7.02-10 to 7.02-19. This is a Wacom program published by Lenovo.
However, if I download and install the WINDOWS UPDATE offering of "Wacom Input Wacom Two-Finger Touch" published May 19th, 2011, it will break the pen stylus fix.
The problem I had with the mouse disappearing on reboot has to do with the ThinkPad Ultranav Driver.
Keep in mind these three versions:
15.3.6.0
15.2.20.0
15.0.24.0
15.3.6.0 is the version listed in the X201T driver matrix. However, if you follow the matric to MIGR-66898 and download the executable 6hgx40ww.exe , it says it is installing 15.3.6.0 but it really installs 15.0.24.0 . 15.0.24.0 seems to cause the problem on losing the mouse on rebooting.
If you uninstall the ThinkPad Ultranav driver and use Thinkvantage System Update to reinstall the driver, it installs 15.2.20.0 which works, or works until I go back and forth from landscape to portrait to landscape. I'm not sure exactly how it breaks, but it does break, and aftewards I can recover by uninstalling the ThinkPad Ultranav driver and reinstalling with Thinkvantage System Update.
I keep checking to see if Lenovo will release a more current version of the driver, that might fix it for good. My wife's X201T with version of this driver 15.1.19.0 seems to work fine.

Re: X201T Mouse and Stylus and Touch woes just appeared...
I think I just found an additional version of ThinkPad Ultranav Driver also installed on my X201T:
Windows Driver Package - Synaptics (SynTP) Mouse (04/22/2010 15.0.18.0)
I found this under Programs and Features.
I wonder if I should remove it to see if it is causing problems with me sometimes losing the mouse on reboot.
I think I could (1) create a restore point and then (2) uninstall Windows Driver Package - Synaptics (SynTP) Mouse (04/22/2010 15.0.18.0) and if it turned out I wanted it back I could recover it by reverting to the saved System Restore restore point.

Re: X201T Mouse and Stylus and Touch woes just appeared...
Lenovo System Update today released ThinkVantage Tablet Shortcut Menu 6.26 which I just installed (updating my 6.25 version).
The description of this update suggests it might fix problems after switching into and out of "Tablet" (ie Portriat?) mode.
It seems to have fixed my problem so far.
