Question: can X220 output audio via Displayport?

I want to playback HD movies from X220 on a Flat TV.
I learnt that I can use a DP-to-HDMI cable (
Like this one on Amazon) to connect X220 to the TV. But I'm not sure if the current HD3000 chip on X220 can output audio signal via displayport.
Cheers!

Yes the X220 outputs audio over DisplayPort.
The X220 also supports Intel WiFi Direct, which outputs 1080p video and audio wirelessly to an HDMI TV with a ~$100 adapter (requires one of the Intel WiFi cards).

It can, but be sure to buy the right adapter. Only some adapters work. The first one I bought did not support sound. Just ordered a different one today.

Note also that Apple uses Mini-DisplayPort which you don't want.
EDIT: I just got this from monoprice and it works fine with a 10 foot Bluerigger HDMI cable that I have.

Yes! X220 outputs audio and video via displayport. I have a 42" LG tv screen without displayport BUT I use a Displayport to HDMI adapter and it works wonderfully!
