#1 Post by dri » Tue Jun 14, 2011 3:41 pm

FYI: in case anyone else has an issue with activation for the gobi 3000 - the bios needs to be updated to 1.16. this isn't listed on the driver matrix yet, but it is required. i had to get it from a lenovo tech.

I have 3 X220s with internal gobi cards and I can't get any of them to work. THe VZAccess software detects it at first and then claims it's "not inserted". I've update the Gobi card drive to the latest (which isn't that new 2/3/2011) and I've updated bios to 1.17 and still nothing. Lenovo is pointing the finger at Verizon's software while Verizon says it's a lenovo hardware issue. Anyone have problems with the gobi cards in these new X220?

They work fine with for me with a range of 3G service providers.

Verizon's service offerings are quite unlike the 3G providers, so its not hugely suprising there might be some issues there.

However, this might help...... http://www.notebookcomputerrepair.org/g ... ot-working

Hi, guys!

I do not have Gobi 3000, I've got Gobi 2000 instead and it works fine for me.
But my guesses may be helpful for you.

1. Be sure several items to wwan card related are presented in Device Manager w/o "!" or "?" signs, Gobi firmware loader service is installed and working.
2. Be sure firmware image for Verizon is loaded to wwan card.
3. Be sure you've activated your wwan card for Verizon service.
Look at this page: http://www.notebookcomputerrepair.org/g ... ot-working (note, this site is captcha protected for some regions and IP addresses).
Probably you've to activate your wwan cards at the Verizon Wireless site:
http://www.verizonwireless.com/activate-phone.shtml

Hope this helps.

Please try this :

1. Turn off the X220

2. Remove the battery

3. Remove the SIM

4. Remove the external power cable

5. Reinsert the SIM

6. Attach the external power cable

7. Attach the battery

8. Power up the X220

Please let me know if the SIM is recognised after doing this?

Cheers,

Bill B.
