How do I check the build on Lenovo's site?

I bought two Lenovo X220 laptops with slightly different specs, and I wanted to check which one is which. I'm trying to find the specs online, but nothing comes up! I can only see the order status, price, and shipping details.
How can I find my build spec?

hi there
I looked into your post ; and was kinda SHOCKED to see there are SEVERAL CHANGES to the LENOVO WEBSITE that the information you looking for WAS /USED TO BE AVALIBLE:
Now am not sure how or where Lenovo gives you the Information for
"AS SHIPPED CONFIGURATION" (ASC) this 'configuration' is avalible via "model number AND Serial Number" combination on this page :
Warranty Lookup:
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... -WARNTY#sw
(MIGR # : LOOK-WARNTY)
(((link at bootom on the 'displayed page = you could go and see the ASC in DETAILS = Thus giving you a clear info of what you GOT and than you could compare to WHAT YOU ORDERED.)))
I have in recent past RETURNED 5 laptops (3 x x200, 2 x edge220s) as they are NOT WHAT I ORDERED.... so I am not suprised Lenovo is kinda hiding these kinda info - just my guess
....(but it might be a curent website inssues due to so many changes @ lenovo)
However; now when I put my this laptop details (model&s/n etc) there - it seems to NOT WORK!!!
not sure if there is website issue or Lenovo has moved all the INFO regarding ASC out of IBM arena
...blah blah ,,,,
Currently WARRANTY look up here :
http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/product ... fault.page?
At the bottom of the screen you see a link for
PARTS LOOKUP:
which i assume is the NEW AS SHIPPED CONFIGURATION parts list !
if all else fails .I would call Lenovo tech Support , and see if they could Email you the ASC
...sorry but I hope this helps you
Cheers

Oh, well, by all means, let's attribute it to malicious intent in big letters while putting the more likely in-the-middle-of-a-complete-site-overhaul in tiny letters.

I'm very interested in knowing why my Dad's build turned out to be more expensive, even though it was identical to my build, with the exception of no bluetooth card. It should have been less expensive, but
http://www.lenovo.com/CanadaOrderStatus
shows it as more expensive...
I guess I'll have to call the *expletive

Lenovo (and other vendors as well) change the discounts available through various eCoupons constantly in North America, with any offer usually only good for a week or two at best, and sometimes for only a day. So prices change, both up and down, all the time

Checking the email confirmations my first order (mine) cost $799 plus tax. My Dad's confirmation email showed $789 plus tax. Free shipping on both.
When I check the invoices online at the website I posted above (Lenovo Canada Order Status) there is a discrepancy. My dad's shows as $889.
I've worked in retail and now I do Corporate Sales, so I'm very well aware of price fluctuations that occur sometimes on an hourly basis. The above just doesn't make sense.

SORRY IF SOMEone GOT OFFENEDED BY facts!!! - (have rma & case numbers......and deal with "Lenovo Customer DELIGHT TEAM" -
wow what a name !!).....
Also to me when you pay $2500-$3000 for anything (let along that these same laptops would never leave the factory UNLESS the MODEL& S/N matched with 'configurations" - matched with CUSTOMER ORDER!!! in days of "past"!!! .....
As I have returned few other Thinpads (various reasons mostly DOA etc) kinda leaves you very frustrated when noone seems to even get the FACTS and ACTt on them ........> I never expect any 'silver glove service' nor want anything free or more ... JUST WHAT I ORDERED; and we wont even go on 'promised delivery dates'; missing customer parts from Depot repairs etc etc ,,,,,
IN days of past - never had any "continuity/userablity/avaliblity' issues from these items where on domain " /ibm307..." let along have 'virus infected' drivers ..blah blah .......
Janet; am happy to send you info; maybe you work for Lenovo; and help me fix some of my issues ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,but sicne most of these cases are " in process' for last few(3+) months ....
I far as sounding Anti- Lenovo; am not moving else where ..havent done that since 1970s'......
Sorry if I offended anyone personally

Now you're just being silly.
What I'm tired of is the overly dramatic moaning and groaning over every issue no matter how large or small. Post the facts in an orderly manner, ask questions, follow advice. Do it all without imagining conspiracies against you. Yes, it's all tedious, but it's not a perfect world and things go awry.

*dmc....
As far I can advise you - if you have copies of YOUR ORDER/QUOTE .. and if thats what you ordered (and allowing for any voucher ; specials pricing etc) ... those QUOTES are supposed to be valid for 30 days. I am not sure of orders from Canada; but I know have talked to Customer Serive Team LEAD in India would look into your issues - as long as you ask them to OPEN A ISSUE (case)
They have been polite and yet it seems to take forever to resolve - so dont expect any moneis /returns in a hurry... my one laptop = is in linbo-land for over a year and 'std warranty even ran out ..... and its never been USED !!! just sits in its shipped box in corner !
As far as getting the AS SHIPPED CONFIG = not sure where to get those AS OF NOW...
Hope this helps

Since it was wrapped up in some much ranting, it was hard to see what you were
doing, and it it is still somewhat unclear.
I realise you are posting from some sort of small mobile device, but your posts still need to make sense in
normal written English

No, the "Conspiracies against you" referred to your comment "I have in recent past RETURNED 5 laptops (3 x x200, 2 x edge220s) as they are NOT WHAT I ORDERED.... so I am not suprised Lenovo is kinda hiding these kinda info - just my guess".
The silly part was assuming I work for Lenovo just because I'm tired of the over-the-top complaining.
FWIW, I am not, nor have I ever been, employed by IBM or Lenovo.

Hi Uncle Bill;
Sorry for my rant; Sorry am back posting this from laptop - Apologies for short coming on info:
I wil try and explain ( atleast one crazy case) - as an EXAMPLE of how important it is for some customers to be able to get ASC ( as shipped configuration details - which used to be avalible in the past via the "/ibm307" domain(s). I am being told by Lenovo (seems noone really k nwos who is responsible for these bits of info) that "NO SUCH THINGS IS NECESSARY and since its is of not much iuse!"..... Blah blah...
Example< as isted above
Code: Select all
Model and serial number on botom of laptop = TYPE 0301 XB6 S/N XX-xxxx
(and THERE IS EVEN MORE ,,,, the bios reads = model 1301 xbs !!!!!)
laptop I ordered
Edgfe 15 in - Win7P, with i 5 pROC, 320HD, Wifi max + Gobi card......etc etc<quick details>
Key things of note here =
a) 0301 = thinkpad Edge 15 Intel models
b) Model suffix = XB6 - this 'model number 'DO NOT EXIST ( check in the Drivers and Downloas section - if you follow that process, you will see Xb4 exists , so does Xb5, but NO XB6!! for thinkpad Edge 15 - model 0301
c) Since all thinkpads (can /usually) run BIOS UPDATES via Lenovo System Update (easy peazy) and if you ran the system update on the above laptop = YOu ANSWER =
NO UPDATES FOUND So nothing gets (inclding any Mandatory updates) updated - let along any firmware etc etc
So you end up doing MANUAL UPDATES (sucks - ok no biggie)
d) Its gets more complicated;
When the Model& S/N is correctly matched - it also determines what "correct components" ought to be replaced when something breaksdown - Tech Support also has no way of knowing what to send for replacements etc etc
This mismatch results in lot more major complicated issue(s) in my view.
This laptop was supplied first time and returned for repalcement. than got 2nd one and it was still not corrected to the order, and was returned and 3rd time laptop came to me was this item and is stitting in corner since 12mths ago and warranty just expired june 23rd 2011.
I have Edge, one - T series and one W series laptop with these and similar issues. YES Lenovo staff have been polite and always come forward to help but issues still remains and seems no fix in sight yet!
One of the KEY TOOLS was the avaliblity of ASC link at Model and S/N page and it help remedy a lot of issues like these- which am being told now - wont be avalible anytime soon

0301XB6 is a refurbished 03015PU originating from lenovo's US outlet store. that machine type and model number combination MOST CERTAINLY exists.

I'd be curious if someone can get this link to work. I have it failed ("error has occurred") on two machines, X60s and T400s. I also have not been able to find this link or similar from within the new site. When I go to "Product and Parts Detail" I can only get the configuration for the Type/Model, but not the detail for my SN machine. It would be great to get to the ASC again.

go to support.lenovo.com. under the "warranty" header click on "check your warranty status". on the subsequent page, click on "parts lookup". it's not the most intuitive location but it's there.
every system i've tried (23 systems so far) works with both links below:
http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/product ... ookup.page
http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/product ... ART-LOOKUP
some users have reported errors with their particular MTM/SN combo. i had a few not work early on but everything seems to be ok now.

Thanks, I can now get to the parts lookup link. But I get the following for my X60s:
Error : Could not retrieve parts information for 1703 SN-----
The T400s does work, so thanks for the new link.
Any ideas on why the X60s doesn't bring up the list?

not sure why the X60s doesn't pull up. to name a few on my list i've tried a 701c, 770Z, 600, T23, X32, X41T, X61s, T400, X220, and a thinkstation D10, D20, and C20 just to see if it was a generation issue or something random. right now it seems completely random.

I don't have my X60 S/Ns at the moment so I just tried two X60T systems randomly found on eBay where the seller has listed the S/Ns... Parts lookup fails (Error : Could not retrieve parts information for 7767...) but warranty check returns information (expired about a year ago for each). None of my older systems (T41 and earlier) are known to the parts system, but that's probably not too unexpected seeing how the warranty lookup hasn't worked for these older laptops for the last couple of years. If you are able to get parts information on T20 and 600 systems, I'd be interested in how you are doing that.
