Access Connections issue from standby
Access Connections issue from standby
Hi
I am using Access Connections 5.83 on an X201 with win7 64bit. Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6250 AGN with Wimax card.
AS i have MANY programs at start up, when i go home etc , I close the lid and let it go into standby.
On arrival elsewhere I open it up.....
But AC is applying the password correctly tot he new access point, so I connect BUT I do not have internet access as the IP addresses i have manually configured into AC for each connection are NOT applied. So it is doing half the job. As soon as I disconnect the connection within AC and then Connect again, everything is applied correctly and I am good to go.
Anyway of getting around this?
I'm confused as I technically DON'T have Intel pro/set connection installed but it appears (but not in the Start menu) to ask if I want to save the configuration.
Also can I disable the Win7 wifi utility? I noticed there that many of the connections I have on AC are duplicated with the original connection eg in my office the router might be called Office_ABCD. In AC I called the location MyOffice. In the Win7 list both Office_ABCD and MyOffice appear. Also If I disable the connection as automatic in AC, it doesn't change it to manual in the Win7 list, so I have to do this manually each time.
Thanks
Peter

Re: Access Connections issue from standby
Do you have a particular need for static IP addresses?piashaw wrote:as the IP addresses i have manually configured into AC for each connection are NOT applied.
Static IP addresses are not treated in the same way as dynamically acquired addresses by Access Connections, and that might have something to do with what you are experiencing.
If you have use best available connection set in the relevant profiles, you might have more success by setting them to use WiFi only

Re: Access Connections issue from standby
Hi Bill,
I already have the best available connection set as wifi only.
Yes I do need to use static IP addresses for many of them (but not all).
How does it understand static addresses differently? It seems odd that it remembers the passwords etc but not the rest (or maybe windows wifi manager or Intel (if it's actually installed) are doing the connection to the access point prior to AC kicking in...
Would be nice to work out how to disable Windows built in and the intel one and see if it works then.
Thanks
Peter

Re: Access Connections issue from standby
Its unclear what you mean by that.... have you explicitly set the Type of network connection selection to Wireless LAN (802.11)?piashaw wrote:I already have the best available connection set as wifi only.
