X220 IPS panel and noticeable image persistence ?

I've just read several complaints that the IPS panel used in X220 suffers from "image persistence" problem. This is known problem of many LCD monitors (even my NEC 2090 UXi has it as well, after ~ 10 hours of static image displayed) but LG panels seems to be very sensitive to this problem.
There are reports that the persistence is visible even
after 15 minutes of static image displayed

Is it just a bad batch of panels or common problem ? I've never noticed it on my R51 IPS panel made by IDTech.

I haven't noticed that.
Just got my X220 yesterday, though. I asked my father who got his delivered first (Father's Day gift) and he said he hasn't noticed that either.
Could be a bad batch, or a bad manufacturer. If you get one like that send it back to Lenovo for a replacement. No need to live with a **** screen if you pay good money for it.

Also, we can discover lots of "issues" whenever we inspect a laptop too closely, like a tiny bit of ghosting, a tiny bit of noise, a tiny bit of flex, a tiny bit of squeakiness, etc. IMO, life is too short to worry about these minor things.

You're right, but when it comes to my ThinkPads I'm a perfectionist.
I always have to consider resale value too, since I will be selling it in a year or so to purchase the X230
Usually I sell it for the same amount as I bought it for, because I buy at prices way below market value.

I've tested my x220 IPS display and must report that I've not found ghosts or still image fixation, it seems that problems reported on earlier IPS panels are unfrequent nowadays. Mine is a LG one.

The temporary image persistence is only visible on darker backgrounds. None at all in your machine? I was one of the very early adopters and was hoping it was a batch issue. If it's truly resolved now, I'll take it to the local service center and have the screen replaced.

FWIW no issues on my x220 IPS. Built last week. Looks great, although could be a little brighter if I wanted to be fussy. Great to be able to see a nice and even image without adjusting the angle of the screen all the time to get it spot on (TN).

It exists on mine, but doesn't bother me as it's only noticeable when rebooting into Ubuntu on the dull purple bootscreen. Otherwise, I can't find any evidence of ghosting.
