outside monitor screen flickers when connected to ultrabase3

I do have a displayport to dvi cable in between. however, it works fine when plugged into the laptop directly.
the whole point of ultrabase was to avoid that :)

edit: actually, the other one flickers (goes on and off really quick) too, except much less frequently. Definetely sounds like a signal strength problem, and most likely cause is either the DVI cable or the DisplayPort to DVI connector

switched to VGA, put the DVI cable into desktop instead... i think it'll be all good.

I saw around ~5cm high garbled area flickering every now and then - about once per few secs - on the Dell U2711 when I first switched from VGA to DisplayPort on UB3/x220. I had been connected over VGA cable before and did not power off display before connecting DP cable. When I switched DP cable to laptop port it worked fine and moving back to UB3 the flickering continued. I tried again few days later, after monitor and UB had been powercycled and I guess laptop itself had ben rebooted as well -- no flickering then whatsoever. That was with old, ie out-of-box BIOS. So I suggest - powercycle all of these components...
