Fresh Install Problems (no drivers)

I'm facing a problem with a fresh Windows 7 install. I decided not to use the Lenovo restore disc, and to do a completely fresh install using a clean MSDN Windows 7 Pro.
I can go through the entire install, and Windows 7 boots up, however the max resolution I can get is 1024x768, there are no network or wifi drivers (Intel Link 1000), etc. Normally this wouldn't be an issue, because I've installed wireless drivers before on clean installs. This time, however, whether I install the drivers I download from Intel.com or Support.Lenovo.com (driver matrix for X220) WIFI DOES NOT CONNECT. It can "see" wireless networks around me, but cannot connect to any of them.
If I can get my Wifi to work I can use the Lenovo System update to install all of the other missing drivers. It's the keystone of my clean install.
FYI: Plugging in to a wired network doesn't work either.
System specs in my sig
Windows Experience index shows desktop/gaming graphics as 1.0 - and I can't figure out why if Intel graphics are built into the i5-2410M
Can anyone help?
