WIRELESS CONNECTIVITY ISSUE

#1 Post by mleclere » Fri Aug 19, 2011 2:31 pm

Current Configuration is:

Thinkpad X-220, I7-2620M, 8GB Ram, 320 GB HHD
Intel Ultimate N-6300 wireless card, with 3x3 display for maximum diversity

My Service Provider is Time Warner Cable Signature Service at 50 mps hardwired.

My issue is that the new Thinkpad X-220 only downloads at 6mps wirelessly, although it shows a connectivity of over 130 mps. I have an APPLE computer immediately adjacent to this computer with an "N" card configuration that downloads at 45mps wireless. I called Lenovo technical support who did not even know what I was talking about.

I checked the configuration settings on the router, switched the channel to channel 5 from channel 11, which boosted the apple from 10 mbs to 45 mps, but the thinkpad is still creeping along. I semed to be having issues with signal interference, which was resolved after switching channels.

Any ideas on what could be happening?
