I spilled some juice on my keyboard and now some of the keys don't work anymore, I was looking on ebay and found this
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/New-Lenovo-Think ... 3f0d8f79d2
it looks like the newer model thinkpad keyboard, and as far as I can tell from the shape it looks very similar to mine (x201) can someone confirm or deny if I can replace my X201 keyboard with any of the newer model thinkpad keyboards?
Edit: these are the part numbers i have found for the newer model keyboards, 45N2071 45N2141 45N2211. But I can't really tell what the difference is.
thanks,

Not compatible. Different keyboards, different screw layouts.

comparing pictures from the back of the keyboards they do look very different. very disappointment, I was happy that I might get a keyboard upgrade as a result of my mistake.

X201 keyboards are only compatible with the X200/X200s/X200t/X201/X201s/X201t.
The X220 keyboard is compatible with T400s/T410s/T420s/T410/T420/T510/T520/W510/T520 (and all the i variants of these models).

Bit late, but I can confirm that the T410/T420 keyboard connector fits in the X201 KB-slot.
I needed to work on an X201 mobo in a hurry and I happened to have such a T4x0 keyboard handy.
As a temporary tide-me-over it works good enough, at least in the BIOS (not yet tried in Windows or other programs).
The hardware mounting and mouse-key sizes are different, so it's not a permanent solution.

Some more keyboard compatibility hints.
T6x + T(W)4(5)00 + Z61 keyboards are the same.
I think that X201 and T6x... keyboard function compatible but i haven't tested this.
Yes X201 and even T61 keyboard can work in T410 (have tested with T410s) - BUT Fn key won't work

ThinkLight and Brightness won't work even in BIOS. In Ubuntu xev says that i have pressed unmodified keys (PgUp, Home, End) But volume and mute buttons works fine. Ins, Del, Esc, F1 works as expected.
I begun this test only because i started to hate T410's keyboard layout. T410 have good classic keyboard but this 2 mutation (Esc and Delete keys) makes me almost disabled:(
All my lovely key combos are misstyped - like F2, F3, F4 in mc (FAR) console file managers or Shift+End + Shift+Insert while text editing are end up with deliting instead overwriting selected line of text
And i think there is no cure for this disease. I know that i can teach myself new layout, but it makes me crippled with original oldschool layout.
Even more hints.
One day i wanted to start X230 mobo. First of all i have used T410 keyboard and it worked. But keyboard controller (main controller on the mainboard) begun overheating (i think because backlight feature of original X230 absent on T410 keyboard). After this i have connected X61 keyboard... and one line on keyboard's ribbon cable have burned out;) But after that X61 keyboard can work (switch on / off) and keyboard controller didn't overheated.
