How to restore my X220 Tablet HDD to the factory default?

#1 Post by neutral0891 » Thu Sep 08, 2011 5:29 am

Hi All,

I need your expertise and advice on this.

I'm using a ThinkPad X220 Tablet (42993AA). I bought a new 320GB HDD due to the HDD crashed, I install with Windows XP Professional 2002 with SP 3 and manage to installed all required drivers and software.

Now the issue is that the screen is not able to rotate automatically when I flip the screen to a "tablet mode" and the Digitizer Pen is not able to work correctly.

I heard from somewhere that I need to install a Win XP which able to support tablet laptop, but other than that, is there any work around?

If I would like to restore my X220 Tablet to the Factory Default which is running Win 7 with my new purchase 320GB HDD, how can I do that?

Thanks.

Why would you buy a new had drive when the old one was under warranty? Call Lenovo and explain that their hard drive crashed before you could create recovery CD's (shame on you for not) and tell them to ship you a new drive and a recovery CD set.

Great comment Harry. I bought this as "second hand" from a friend and sending to Lenovo and asking for their help is not possible. Is there any other suggestion please?

Thanks.

The fact that you bought it second hand has nothing to do with the standard 1 year warranty. That remains with the machine, not the owner.

Hi Harry,

Thanks. Let me try to talk to local Lenovo for support.

But may I know what will happen if I buy this X220 Tablet 1 year later? or when I sell it to others?

How is the recovery process going to be? Can you share your solution?

Hand the recovery discs over to the new owner, or run a fresh factory recovery and let them burn their own set. .
