Adding a Bluetooth daughter card to the X220

#1 Post by mulleady » Sun Sep 11, 2011 9:12 am

My X220 came without the internal bluetooth 3.0 I asked for but the dealer did refund me.

I know the FRU part is meant to be 60Y3275 but can I add similar looking cards used in the X60 etc that are listed on eBay? they are also usb daughter type cards. I assume they will fit but would they pass the BIOS whitelist?

Finally are do I lose out much having BT 2.1 as opposed to BT 3.0?

I'm aware of the warranty issues doing a FRU. Thanks in advance.

Assuming you could get around the whitelist (doesn't happen very often without a modded BIOS or pin mod), why are you shying away from the correct FRU? Availability? Price? I also found a thread that said if you use an aftermarket bluetooth module you lose the indicator light.

Thanks. Mainly price & availability in the UK. Already have a Gobi 3000 WWAN card.

Even a cool $105 in the US. too much for a BT card!

I'm also very interested in this.

Let me know if you have any luck, and which FRU you used!!!

yes, the 9mm SSD fits in the X220
