What is the best Wifi card i can get for the X220. I have the 1x1 11b/g/n Wireless LAN PCI Express Half Mini Card Adapter. This card is weak on reception and will not connect to my 5GHz network.

Any suggestions!

If you don't have a camera in your X220, that would be the Intel 6300 (which is a 3T3R card).

If you do have a camera, it will be one of the Intel 6200 family cards (which are basically 2T2R cards)..... sorry I don't use those cards myself and don't have an exact reference on the preferred 6200 series card model for an X220 handy.

Did your X220 come with the 6300 card or did you install it yourself?

Were the necessary antennas already in the laptop? Which card did your laptop originally come with?

I just put the two snap on wires back where they were. Its pretty simple. I had the 1x1 11.

I thought the 6300 was a 3 antenna card.

Yeah it has place for one in the center. Its works very well without it. I have a wire for but it dosent have a connector on it. Works great with the 1 and 2 wire.

I found this when i was looking around.

No you will not see any diffrence the 3rd antenna is for a third concurent connection making it a 450 megabit connection assuming your N router has the ability to handle all three this would make it a third faster buuuut I only know of 1 router that can do this so far and I might be assuming to much but I doubt you have this. N with a 300 mb connection gives you about 12MB a sec so about 100mb that is a tiny bit better than 100 mb wired so it should do you for most things..

So the 6300 is the same as the 6205 but with the additional capability of 450Mb/s?

In my experience, 3T3R cards do give better performance with 2T3R routers that a 2T2R card does

Let's say if we forgo the HSDPA card, could we use the HSDPA antenna as an alternative for the 3rd antenna required by 6300?

I think we're talking about performance with 2T2R routers since 2T3R are so rare. Especially since public areas (where you only find 2T2R) are where you run into reception issues.
