x220 screen look washed out?

So every time I lock the computer and resume, there will be a few seconds everything on the screen will look washed out (like setting contrast too high on a monitor, but does not actually look bright).

I have the IPS display for the machine. Is anyone experience the same?

Intel driver issue. I think there is a power-saving setting somewhere responsible for that, which can be turned off.

^^^

I think you are right. I remember reading threads regarding similar symptoms to OPs. If you're symptoms occur when you are on battery power then the Intel settings may apply. These settings are for my X200 but I think the Intel control panel may be very similar to your X220.

IIRC you should

right click on desktop>>choose desktop properties>>Choose Power>>Power Features>>Graphics Power Savings Plans>>click on drop down menu that has either "Plugged in" or "On battery">>choose battery>>untick "Display Power Saving Technology"

I am not sure if this change in power saving will have any effect on AC but give it a try. I don't use the power saving technology in my X200 and still get decent battery runtime on battery.

I'm not sure if the washed out symptom is the same thing as a degraded contrast while on battery discussion we had over on the lenovo forum. This article notes the setting in question...

Maybe this will help?

So I've been experiencing this, as well as the ghosting issue. I just shut off that setting per emeraldgirl's post; if that works or I figure something else out I'll you guys know.

I'm experiencing this too. But it last only for a few seconds when resuming from sleep mode on battery, so it doesn't really bother me.
