X220 : Unable to create a correct bootable Recovery USB stic

#1 Post by veloce » Fri Sep 30, 2011 12:09 pm

Hello

For my new X220 with win 7, i tried to create a bootable Recovery USB stick.

It is ok for me up to the creation of the partition and the activation to get a bootable USB device. But when i use the Thinkvantage tools, "Factory Recovery Disk", i choose boot & data in Lenovo thinkvantage tools, i have an error like "impossible to find files needed by this program" (the message can be a little different as i have a french version...). Any idea ?

It is working well when i select only "system", but i have only 500MB stored on my USB stick, with a big file "WinRe.wim" and a boot directory.
I'm able to restore my system, for example on a blank disk with only this USB key ???

I missed to tell that the original drive was changed to an SSD, but the software of the new SSD was used to copy all the original drive on the new SSD, with the Recovery partition of course.

Please, help me as i will have to install the OS on a mSATA SSD drive to get the standard SATA SSD available for the datas and to be able to work with this beautiful tool.

Thanks for in advance ! :thumbs-UP:

I reply to myself :
As i don't know what i can do and what is on this USB stick with only 500 MB, i think my only solution is to use something like Acronis to copy my system disk :?
The small Lenovo recovery partition seem not to be useful for me...
