Thinkpad T500 - Water spillage

#1 Post by ashishhsihsa » Mon Oct 17, 2011 12:03 am

Hi,

Spilled water on my T500 from 2009.
The laptop would not even start-up i.e. no light under the screen.
The laptop is not under any warranty now.

I have already tried keeping the laptop wrapped in a piece of cloth for over a month and then tried
re-booting but still no response. I was hoping at least the boot-up light would show up.

Is there anything I can try? Any idea what could be the problem?

if you plug in the ac power and you have no LED indicator lights coming on, then you probably killed the motherboard. You should of let the laptop dry by kept in an aerated area and wrapped in a piece of cloth.

Try to take the battery off, and start the laptop without the battery in (plug in the ac adapter obviously).

But the hope of reviving your laptop is bleak, and the cost of fixing by Lenovo would cost more than an equivalent machine on the market.

You are probably better sell the machine for parts.
