Lenovo Thinkpad T420 Screen opinion ?

I had shortlisted on either the 420 or the 420s . I have used a T60 in the past and was very happy with it. Then I tried a HP which is awful. But being a photographer I need to review and sometimes do light editing on the field. I believe the screen of these two models is very very bad ?
Any users please give me your comments, thanks. I am looking for portability 14inch max.

If the T60 was a 15" with SXGA+ or UXGA resolution, those were IPS screens and are considerably better than most notebook screens. The screens offered on the T420 and T420s are average. Most notebook screens aren't that great. If you want a good screen, I might suggest the X220 with the IPS screen.

I am 55 years old and although I wear computer glasses whilst using a Laptop, still do not like small fonts . That is why had selected a 14inch screen. Also I do not like to increase font size in windows. Out of the box how are the fonts specially whilst viewing web pages like DPreview etc ?

If you were planning on getting the WXGA+ LCD, which I am assuming you are since the T420s only comes with WXGA+ LCDs, the font size will be slightly larger on the X220 than a T420(s) with WXGA+ LCD. Plus, the better quality of the IPS panel on the X220 does help with readability in my experience. I'm not familiar with DPreview so I can't say much about it.

Thanks Bill for your prompt replies and sugestions. No camera and also no DVD writer, something I would definately need in a notebook. Otherwise sounds good.

I don't know how it is in Poland, but you can get the camera in the US. The optical drive isn't an option unless you want to do an external or ultrabase. I have an external Blu-ray for my X220i. It works quite well, but I don't use it much. Who burns discs these any more? Good luck nonetheless.
