T500 software? problems.need advise please

Greetings- Problems started over a month ago, just been too busy to search to find a solution with any sucesss.I'm getting the infamous "ThinkVantage Access Connections Service GUI helper Module has stopped working..............." error message. I found a lot of people having this same problem (starting in 2008, guess that I've been lucky till now), but could not find a solution when searching on this and other message boards. At almost the same time, I lost my audio and have an "X' over the speaker icon. When I right click on the icon, and OPEN VOLUME MIXER, it states that no audio device is installed. BUT, when I right click on "Playback Devices", it shows that Conexant 20561 Smart Audio HD is working and there is a Green "check mark" icon. The SPDIF Interface Icon is also present and that Conexant 20561 Smart Audio HD is working BUT, no green check mark on this one. I already went to the Conexant website and downloaded the updated driver (and installed it ), but that didn't help the problem.Are the two problems related and is there a downloadable fix? Greetings- I should also add that I have a 3 year warranty that still has 240 days left on it , but if I understand things correctly, if it's a software problem, it's not covered? Lenovo lists something like 28 different service shops in my area (Providence, RI), can you recommend one that does good work, fast turnaround, and easy to deal with? Thanks so much, regards, Paul

if its a software problem it is not covered, they would just reinstall the whole OS for you if they are feeling generous.
