Just had my previous panel replaced (Dead pixels growing all over the button) but I got the panel model number down: The panel was a AUO B141PW04, the previous one (With the dying pixels) was FRU 42T0735, P/N 42T0734. The new one (Seems identical in viewing characteristics, OK side to side, so so vertical, contrast is OK and color is fairly OK once you tweak with calibration) is FRU 93P5655, P/N 63P5654. (Hoping the numbers aren't mixed, but the AUO B141PW04 should be right for the panels) Seems that I have the "magic" panel that is acceptable and I was hoping to share this for the people that really hate their panel and are willing to go out of the way.

In reference, here is the old panel against a Dell 2007FP (UXGA, S-IPS panel)

Removal of the LCD is easy, you just remove the two rectangular stickers (Use a knife or a spudger) over the 4 screws in the front of the LCD bezel. Carefully remove the bezel without damaging the clips on it (It should be easy, the bezel is fairly flexible) and then you'll see the LCD mounted on two rails. The rails will be secured to the hinge and lid assembly, remove the screws from those and you'll be able to access the panel. The LCD cable is attached to the connector on the back with some tape, you'll have to be careful there because it secures the connector to the panel. Afterwards, remove the screws from the rail (2 on each) and transplant them to the new LCD. Do everything in reverse there and you'll have your panel replaced.

The method in the HMM requires the removal of the lid, you can do the above method if you just want to swap the LCD.

I am not responsible for voided warranties or damage, this is just here for people that are willing to do a panel swap.
