New T420 user. Academic restore media question.

#1 Post by QuackXP » Tue Dec 06, 2011 5:08 pm

Since this is a brand new system I don't have a need to restore. But when you do restore from the recovery media you create does it also create the recovery partition?

That will not work, I've tried. But the recovery disk set will restore the OS and recovery partitions to factory. You will also be able to burn another recovery disc set after doing a restore.

I don't know how it will be for a T420, but if i have understood what i read about creating recovery media correctly, restoring from recovery media which you have created yourself, will not create a recovery partition on the hard drive.

It created a recovery partition for me when I reimaged with the recovery disks for my W520.
