T62 Power adapter on a T420?

I've just been upgraded from a T62 to a T420. The T62 has a nice small 60w power adapter (P/N 92P1158) and the T420 has a bigger 90w adapter (P/N 42Y4428). They both have the same connector.

I don't really want to carry around the bigger, heavier 90w power brick, so could I use the old 60w one while travelling? I googled the part number on the 60w adapter, and one site suggested that it was a replacement part for the T420, but I don't want to damage it or get stuck on the road with a dead battery and a power supply that won't charge it!

Anyone using a 60w adapter with their T420?

Thanks!

The battery may charge slower with the smaller adapter.

This ThinkPad T420 is a worthy upgrade to your prior, very rare indeed, T62.

Happy ThinkPadding!

Oops! The T62 is actually a T61!

Thanks for the power supply info.

I was curious about the "T62" myself.

Funny thing just today is I was browsing my local Craigslist site and came across this posting

The plot thickens...!

The T61 series started out with Merom processors and switched midstream to Penryn processors. The Penryn models had different motherboards compared to the Merom models. On restore media, Penryn models are referred to as T62, although the actual notebooks are labelled T61.
